As usual, once I have made a hard and fast rule, the first thing to do is break it. When I started painting, I took the firm decision never to call anything "Untitled", which I have always found to be a bit of a cop-out mostly perpetrated by abstractionists. In fairness however, one occasionally see an image that is so powerful it needs no title, it just is what it is.
So, now ten years after starting painting the I have at last produced a small series of pictures with titles that commence with "Untitled" however the the nature of these titles becomes apparent when one reaches the the fourth and final image in the series. Larger versions of these paintings with their titles can be seen in the main gallery
It's the 11th of March and here I am panicking about an exhibition which seemed a safe distance away when we booked it last year. Suddenly I have a little over two months till I start to hang the show. Similarly, it seems like a week ago that I wrote a post here and now realise, to churn, the it is nearly two months since the last post.
So I am now starting to panic slightly about the next exhibition at the beautiful 'Old Lifeboat House' in Porthleven. The show starts on Saturday the 13th of May and the Private View is on Sunday the 14th at 2pm. If you're in the area, we'd love to see you. I'll post more details when I have designed the poster (Eeek! Another thing on the list of stuff to do).
