It's that time of the year again! On the 13th of May I am taking part in an exciting exhibition of new work by Stella Pilsworth, Gilly Gegg and myself. Once again we are to take over the Old Lifeboat House in the beautiful fishing village of Porthleven in Cornwall. This will be our third exhibition together in as many years and I am looking forward to it hugely.
Stella Pilsworth steps away from the standard images of yachts, fishing boats and harbours to paint images of really large vessels such as grain carriers, tankers and container ships. Her work has a misty, impressionistic quality not often associated with these gigantic workhorses of the seas.
Gilly somehow manages to paint with glass. She blends many different types and shades of glass before fusing them in her kiln. Her artistry is mixed with her scientific knowledge of all the materials and reactions involved in this fascinating process.
My work, as you will see from the rest of this site, is a melange of surrealism, humour and views from the other side.
Together our work fuses into, what we hope will be one of the most interesting exhibitions you will see this year.
The show opens on the Saturday the 13th of May at 10am but we'd love it if you could join us for a glass of wine (or two!) at the Private View on Sunday the 14th from 2pm. There will be some gorgeous music provided by by Willow, a local (well, one of them lives in Portugal) acapella and harp ensemble.
The exhibition then remains open till the 19th and we are open from 10am till 5pm every day.
